New Beginnings

Hi and welcome to my Grandma's blog. This is a new beginning in IT for me and just to clarify the name and title of the blog . . . 'Gramela' is literally out of a child's mouth, a mix of Grandma and Pamela that seems to appeal to my children and also is an address that noone else in the world has. Does this mean I'm unique?
As for "I spy with my little eye . . . but why?" When I take walks with my grandchildren or we're just sitting playing we often play "I Spy". It used to be a very basic game simply identifying things by colour or by sounds but now the children are older they are getting very good at giving clues and reasoning.
The other day I was playing with Delta and Anika outside on the lawn. Anika fell over and to cover her embarassment, she pretended she wanted to lie and look at the sky. She patted the ground beside her and said, "Come and look at the sky, Grandma." I had a moment's hesitation as I contemplated bad knees and having to get up again then lay down beside her. Delta joined us and at that moment a heliocopter flew over but it was behind the clouds so we could hear it but couldn't see it.
"I spy with my little eye something that sounds like a heliocopter . . ." They pointed at the cloud then Delta wanted to know why she could hear the heliocopter but couldn't see it. That then led to a discussion of how the heliocopter pilot would be seeing the sunshine because he was on the other side of the clouds . . . and what were clouds made of . . . and why the cloud could stop the sun but not the noise. And this conversation with a four year old and a two year old!

So . . . my grandma blog is about the things I see and talk about with my grandchildren and all the wonderful things I learn from them or at least see because of them.
